Help Fund the Big Dog Sculpture Show on Bartlet Mall Aug 15-24!

Picture 20 giant metal dog sculptures by Dale Rogers grazing on the Bartlet Mall in Newburyport, Mass. for all to enjoy during "dog days" of Aug. 15-24!

The Bartlet Mall, founded in 1645, holds a special place in the history of the city and the hearts of its citizens of all ages. It has been a place for skating, sledding, picnicking, festivals, youth sports, dog walking and quiet reflection.

The city has been gradually restoring some of the resources for landscaping, maintenance, signage and bench restoration at Bartlet Mall and its other parks. The city is also developing plans to improve the water quality of the Frog Pond. Private citizens have also donated funds to the cause.

The five citizen volunteers of the Bartlet Mall Commission work to bring the needs of the Mall to the attention of the public and officials. We oversee the maintenance and activities of the park. We also raise funds for the park, pond and fountain. We take our responsibilities seriously. But for a change of pace, we would like to also restore some fun to the Mall. To liven up the “dog days of August” and to help the city celebrate its 250th anniversary, we would like to give the city a gift of a free public exhibit of 20 Big Dog sculptures for 10 days, August 15-24.

The 8 foot tall, 10 foot long Big Dog metal sculptures by local artist Dale Rogers have been very popular wherever they have been installed across the country and we believe citizens and visitors will love this show. (The video is of the sculptures at a previous exhibit in Highland Park, Illinois, not in Newburyport.)

We need $6,000 to transport and install the Big Dogs. We have commitments for about $2,800. Please help us raise the rest and give the city this awesome gift for its 250th anniversary.
